How much thought do you give to your grocery shopping list? Having a well-planned grocery list can help your shopping trips be more efficient and can help you eat healthier meals. Here are some tips for creating a better shopping list for you and your family:
Plan before you go. Start by taking a survey of what is already in your cabinets, fridge and freezer. You’ll also be surprised how many ingredients you may already have available! (Don’t forget to periodically check expiration dates for the items in your pantry and freezer.) Have an idea of what you’re planning to cook, or a weekly meal plan, handy while you create your list. Keep it handy — either on paper or via an app — so you can add to it when you need to and have it ready each time you shop.
Organize your shopping trip by aisle. It’s a great way to categorize your shopping list and can save you time.
Buy what’s on sale. Planning meals around in-season and on-sale fruits and vegetables and stocking up on healthy pantry staples can be a great way to save time and money and to eat healthier.
